Shoring & temporary support
Shoring & temporary support.
Installation and dismantling of temporary supports in construction and civil engineering. Applications include bridge structures, concrete works and temporary load-bearing structures.
The scope
Temporary supports.
Part of the wider project.
Temporary support work must fit the construction sequence and the activities around it. SBE’s installation scope is agreed against the project’s technical information, site conditions and allocation of responsibilities.
- Execution
- Installation and dismantling of shoring and temporary support.
- Applications
- Bridge structures, work associated with concrete construction and temporary load-bearing structures.
- Shoring & falsework
- Shoring provides temporary structural support. Falsework supports permanent works during construction until they can support themselves.
- Coordination
- Installation sequence, material handling, access and interfaces with other tasks.

Before making an enquiry
Start with the site requirements.
Include the project location, structure, installation scope, expected start and duration. Relevant drawings and specifications should show the support arrangement, construction sequence, access and any requirements for lifting or work at height.
Clarify who is responsible for the temporary works design and technical information, materials, supervision, installation, inspections and permission to dismantle. Formwork, which shapes the fresh concrete, is a separate scope to clarify where it interfaces with the supports.
Health, safety and risk managementPlanning shoring or temporary support works?
Send the installation scope, location, programme and relevant technical information. Include site requirements and your proposed division of responsibility.
